Guys,
What do I make out of this? U think once assigned to an officer thgs shud start moving? Or...even after getting assigned to an IO thgs can go bad? Has any thing of that sort also happened? Just curious so I can be prepared...

I don't think so. The only thing that could have happened is that a RFE on any further information. But becuase of the pre-adjudication the chances of an RFE is very very minimal, I will say down to ZERO.
So be happy and just keep your fingers crossed to hear the good news!!!

PD cutoff date moved by 9 months. this is great news for PERM applications with PDs in late 2005. this also tells us that the state dept will move cutoff dates significantly in the last few months of the year so visas will not go to waste.

Lawyers are making good money - they are intimidating everyone who wants to file on their own !!!
My company asked me for a agreement to give me the letter - that agreement is also crafted by a Lawyer - Business everywhere !!
And I got this reply :
See, hear that ? "NO WAY FOR USCIS". Now, I dont know why some lawyers are spreading this nonsense that "BEWARE, USCIS will stop accepting new petitions if they receive 'too many petitions'. What is 'too many ??? Who defines 'too many'? Is 'too many' defined as the time when the mail room clerk gets back pain from lifting boxes of petitions ? Or the guy printing 485 receipt notices gets carpel tunnel syndrome ?
PLEASE PUT THIS IDEA TO REST. USCIS WILL ACCEPT PETITIONS THRU JULY 31, NO MATTER HOW TIRED THEY ARE AND NO MATTER HOW SICK THEY GET OF SEEING 485 FEDEXes COMING IN DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY. GOT IT ????

Its a classical case of too many people and very few visa#. Every one has a valid point
1) One group says I have oldest PD I am waiting since 8 years so I need to get GC
2) Second says I have a better category (EB1 & EB2) so I need to be given preference
3) Third group says I was qualified for EB2 but company & lawyer pushed me to EB3
4) Fourth group Say I have MS PhD from US so preference is mine
Actually all 4 have valid justification but the # are so few that you pick one point and you hurt other groups. So conclusion is Admin fix will only help one interest group but it is possible. Immi reform will help everyone but is difficult/ impossible

two weeks for renewal of my wife's passport.
This was at Indian Consulate, Houston.
BTW, I added $20 to the fees for return overnite shipping. I didn't go there personally but sent it by overnite mail.
I guess you really were lucky to get away in 2 weeks...I have not heard any +ve stories for services at CGI Houston....Their customer service really sucks big time....Its unimaginably tough to speak to a person when you call, on top of that, if you get through, they are very rude to talk to....You are just helpless.....I did send my application via overnite fedex with a $20 fee for express mail and it reached them on Oct 26th.....Hopefully, will hear from them soon.....I will post an update if there is one.....

Guys, let us leave no soldier behind. Let us work on the number of years taxes have been paid + no criminal record. This will include all those who have been here paying their dues at work or at school. I believe you have poured your heart out there! Wonderful job! I believe most of the sane members here totally respect your decision to buy a home without GC.
Having said that, although your description of half-a-day's work gave me goosebumps, I'm not too carried away. If it happens, it happens! I'd go back to my home country with the fond memory of 10 years of life here! As you said, we wont go back empty handed. Came to US with just $200 in the pocket!

Both of you can apply 485 based on your own PD but do not apply the other as dependent 485. That way you are not taking any chances. The only dis advantage is both of you will get GC at different times as they'll be processed independently. Both of you will have two chances with either one in the long run!!!

guys.. 30 minutes is a LOT.. I think I walked a little more than a mile. Feels good, but I think I'm getting a ear/head ache because of all that blood pounding in there.
