The core team has alrady addressed this issue before : try doing a search. The summary goes something like this - First, EAD cards cannot be given out arbitrarily. Apparently, the law mandates very specific circumstances for which an work authorization (EAD) can be given out : for example, a student on OPT. We wouldn't meet this criteria before a visa number is available for adjustment of status to permanent resident - not unless the law is changed by congress. The USCIS ombudsman's report has already objected strongly to the phenomenon of people who are ultimately found ineligible for permanent residence enjoying the benefits of an EAD for extended periods due to processing delays. There is nothing shocking about it. This is how CIS works: move it slowly so that when the new numbers come in w.e.f. october, they can take it forward. EB2 India is where it was in the June bulletin. Thru oct 2007 it should move a few months as there was a big rush to file before Oct. 2005. In fact, Oct 2009 bulletin should be great because the retrogression started in oct 2005 and the applicants in the period between April 2004 - Sept 2005 should be covered (hopefully) in the fiscal year of Oct 2007 to Sept 2008. And a whole new year quota of numbers will be available for the first few months starting from Oct.2008 with not many takers and that could spill over to EB3 retrogressed.

Called USCIS just 5 mins back.. first a lady answered and asked me questions about the reason of calling..
I explained that i am calling to find out the status of my i-485 application that i filed on June 25th. And I would like to know when will i get my receipt no.
The lady asked me to stay on the line and transferred to another person.
Another lady picked up and asked my last name.. I told my last name. (i did not spell my last name)
She asked for reason for calling..
I said to I filed i-485 on June 25th and I did not get my receipt no yet..i said
i would like to know when can i expect my receipt no..
She put me on hold for few mins and came back and said
"You have till August 17 to file your i-485. If we have visa numbers available and if your application is accepted, you will receive your receipt no before August 17"
I said I aready filed my application on June 25, before the July bulletin.
She said "listen carefully" and explained the same thing again.
I said thank you and hung up..
It doesn't make any sense.. I think(hope) she doesn't understand my question properly or she doesn't know the process..

I don't know who senthil1 is, nor do i care. If you nothing to reply please don't waste white space. My comments are not to stir up arguments but an observation.
IV is sticking to employment based green card reforms. Green Card == Immigrant Visa. So, it would be silly not to use 'immigrant' in this context.
IV is not for just those currently in the 485/140 stage. It will be for future green card applicants as well and that includes H1Bs and F1 holders.

The lady checked and said the current processing time is one month behind my notice date and she cannot do any thing at this time. She asked me to call when the processing time is past my notice date so that she can open SR.

I have read so many posts in the past where senior members have clearly said that their is nothing possible for EB3 alone and if something is possible it would be for EB.
(as per calculator, I am going to get my GC in 2030) Would contribution of all EB3 help them in any way?
Contributing money will not help, but contributing time and effort will go a long way in alleviating the pain that IV members are going through.
Make it a point to talk to the senators and representatives. They will have meet and greets every now and then. Go to those meetings. Set up appointments with them. Educate them.
If not, there is not going to be any CIR, and all the money that you send to IV will be a donation to IV, and that is all it is to it.

Logically CP numbers should be included in USCIS report.
All FB-485 are CP numbers so I am assuming that they do have numbers for CP for EB-485.
Also, don't you think that 20000 CP numbers would be included in the monthly numbers or are the monthly numbers just AOS numbers?

Look, No body know about it. I think we should contact with some law firm in order to find it out from some reliable sources.
One more thing is what how does USCIS start retrogression. There is no law about it either. This is something USCIs start by it self using "New Rule" option.
I think Core team should look into it. Since we spend so much energy to calling all Senators and we all know the results.

Please read my scrap carefully.....I did say that you need a letter from the company stating that they will employ you on a full time permenant position upon receiving your green card!.....However, you do not need any other support like ability to pay, labor certifications, etc.

Not be a arm-chair critic. I know, you seem to be just frustrated, I am sure you are not questioning the core and their efforts. This is our year and we are going to be successfull this year. Nothing meaningfull can be achieved without struggle.

I have seen a number of times IV core requesting people to come forward to give their stories for articles in prominent newspapers who contact IV to put our point of view forward. Even for that except 1 or 2 no one else comes forward.
We pay thousands of dollars to lawyers , USCIS etc etc and still we haven't got a GC and you have paid zero to IV and expect IV to get you a GC . Isn't that some twisted logic.
I think you should demand your LAWYER and USCIS to give you the GC since you have paid them thousands . IV doesn't owe you anything at all especially Pappu who is the public face of IV on this forum and puts in so much of his time.

Might this because, more people than normal reported their numbers on during this period? Most of these folks were surprised by EB2 retrogression...just a thought.
