Of course, we are no more than modern day white collar slaves. We toil here for years, our spouses aren't even allowed to have a social security number, not to mention drivers licenses in many states. We are not even allowed to visit our families in our home countries without having the risk of not getting the visa re-stamped in the consulates abroad. How pathetic! Can't we all move to Canada and setup a colony for free slaves?
Look, the situation is terrible but let's not get carried away. We're still here by choice. We bargain going through all this for having the life we have here and not having the energy enough to unroot and head to Canada, Aus or Europe.

I would suggest to marry a girl who is in USA with EB3-I 2007 or later PD, that way your marriage problem will be solved and you are helping a poor sole.

Even if I back date my marriage (as advised) , How can I get my future wife to USA?. I cannot get her on depend status as my H1-B (I believe) got canceled on approval of GC.
Issues I see,
1. The back date of marriage must match to my stay at India.
2. I did not visit India in the last one year.
3. I applied my I-485 in the August 2008 time. So (I must mention my marriage and dependents in the application). Which I did not . So this does not work.
See the troubles I have now.

Does anyone know how Quebec compares to Ontario. Specifically Montreal to Toronto. Economically, culturaly, etc.?

I would say Ontario (Ottawa or maybe Toronto) is better compared to Quebec with regards to immigrants.
In Quebec, if you cant speak French, you are frowned upon. Yeah, yeah i can hear the Montrealers saying they speak both French and English, but the reality is that Quebec only likes people who are French. I heard some racist remarks while walking in the downtown, not uncommon. For some ignoramuses, every colored person is a "bangladeshi" and hurl racist abuses. I was very shocked to say the least...Isolated incident, but not uncommon.
Bottomline, if you wanna life like u had in the US, better Ontario than Quebec or even BC.

I wonder what our children and grandchildren will learn from all these. When they grow up and know that their parents had to go through this mess while waiting to be accepted legally for xxxx number of years and some people got the "grand reward" of being illegal for many years!! I filed my I-485 on 2nd July 2007, My 180 days completes on 29th Dec 2007
I am in IT job, My job title is System Analyst and I want change the job with similar job title Sr System Analyst , But the technology(Oracle Stuff to Java Stuff) will be different then what is on labor certification.
My future employer will not file H1-B, So I have to start on EAD.
What should be process for me to do the same
* Do I need to file AC21
* If yes, Can I do the AC21 with same or Different lawyer
My advice is to take a new job, leave the current employer on good terms and forget about AC21.

My 485 application was received by USCIS at Nebraska Center on July 06, 2007 per the tracking receipt. My attorney received the receipts intrestingly from California service Center with receipt date July 06, 2007. I received a transfer notice from California Service Center dated Sept 12, 2007, with receipt date as Sept 04, 2007. Also the check was cashed on Sept 06, 2007.
Should I worry about the receipt date on the transfer notice?
Would this delay my processing of 485?
Please advice.

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads about go to the rally, actions items, I've reading a lot of guys saying dont ask for your receipt status, dont waste your time etc, etc.
Yes we did the rally we were great with all those signs, and appearing in the Indy TV but...
Question remains open:
1. When are they going to increase the GC quota?
2. When congress id going to do something?
I've the feeling that that's it we made our point but we are still with no GC, waiting receipts..............
Things don't happen overnight... From your questions it looks like you half expected lawmakers to come out in the rally and announce that we hereby increase visa numbers to ####. Things dont happen that way.
The rally put our issues in front of the lawmakers eyes so they can help in influencing and introducing legislation for us... and when they do, we need to be equally active as for the CIR with faxes and emails and calls to lawmakers...

I filed I485 and my I140 got cleared. My employer is not willing to give my Approved I140. I am not sure why he is holding my I140. I dont have have any idea to change job at this time.

It does not matter who will get credit for this. It would not happen without people taking action - IV members or those who took the USCIS to court (BTW, 90% of those did it without attorneys). Nothing happens if you do not do anything!

The government is telling my family I am not an adequate person to form a family with in the U.S. because I was deported with a drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of marijuana, yet it is granting the 212(d)(3) Waiver for Non-Immigrant Visas to Aliens deported with a drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of marijuana and who wish to travel to the U.S.. United States Citizens need an Immigrant Visas Waiver available to their Alien Immediate Relatives deported with a drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of Marijuana in order to even the scales on both U.S. citizen and Alien immigration privileges concerning Deported Aliens with a Drug-Related Offence of More than 30 Grams of Marijuana.
The way things are now U.S. citizens without a criminal conviction and with Alien Immediate Relatives are being discriminated against by their own government. The needs of deported Aliens with criminal convictions are being placed before their own.
It�s pure hypocrisy and it�s my family�s and my name being placed on the line.
I mean, really, how great can the U.S. be if it�s willing to lose their citizens to aliens like me when they decide to move outside of the United States to join their Immediate and shunned Alien Relatives? The U.S. government�s violation of my family�s civil human rights to liberty, freedom of expression and equality before the law is unwarranted. My U.S. family�s civil liberties to equal protection under the law, to due process and privacy are being discriminated against, they are not receiving fair treatment.
